How to Become a Tourist Guide

In accordance with the Tourist Guidance Profession Law No 6326

The title of the tourist guide is earned upon admission and the following conditions are required for admission

  1. A) To be a citizen of the Republic of Turkey.
  2. B) To be at least eighteen years old as of the date of application.
  3. C) To be graduate from undergraduate or graduate program or master degree programs of the tourist guidance department of universities, to have at least bachelor's degree from other departments apart from the tourist guidance departments and when it is necessary in the determined regions ,to complete the national or regional tourist guidance certificate program successfully organized by the unions under the supervision and supervision of the Ministry within the framework of the procedures and principles determined by the regulations and courses and examinations taking into consideration of shared proposal of unions and Turkey Travel Agencies Association and with the Ministry's approval by considering the tourism sector's needs in the determined language
  4. D) To be successful in the foreign language exam or have a foreign language proficiency certificate determined in one of the determined foreign language with mutual proposals and approval of the Ministry and the Unions and Turkey Travel Agencies under the supervision and control of the Ministry or the exams hold by public institutions or organizations which specialized in the field
  5. E) To complete the application tour organized by the Unions under the supervision of the Ministry and to succeed in the examination held at the end of the tour.
  6. F) Not to be sentenced to crimes against the security of the State, the Constitutional order, even if the periods specified in Article 53 of the Turkish Penal Code No. 5237 dated 26/9/2004 have passed, even if they have been sentenced to imprisonment or amnesty for one year or more for a crime committed intentionally., offenses against the functioning of the order, offenses against national defence, offenses against state secrets and espionage, embezzlement, corruption, bribery, theft, fraud, forgery, abuse of trust, fraudulent bankruptcy, mischief in procurement, mischief in the performance of the act, money laundering or smuggling; and not to be sentenced of opposition to this Law or to the Law on the Protection of Cultural and Natural Property, No. 2863, dated 21/7/1983.
  7. G) Not to be ostracized from the profession before.

H)Those who have graduated from two-year degree program, bachelor's or master's degree programs of the tourist / tourism guidance departments of the universities and have foreign language proficiency can apply for admission to the profession with the petition annexed including their ID number, with the following documents directly or by mail to the Ministry.

The following documents are required for this application.

  1. A) Approved copy of the diploma,
  2. B) The original or certified copy of the score or the equivalent document determined by OSYM (which its validity not expired) or the certificate of success obtained from the foreign language examination conducted by the Ministry under the supervision and supervision of the Ministry,
  3. C) Criminal record document,
  4. D) Original or certified copy of the document confirming the completion of the application tour
  5. E) Two passport photos taken in the last six months,
  6. F) The receipt of the payment for the license.

The license is issued by the Ministry.
